Surgeon has shared the title track from the album that lands on 17th March
Surgeon has announced his first new album in five years, 'Crash Recoil', which will land on 17th March via Berlin's Tresor Records. You can listen to the title track and an audio trailer for the record below.
The eight-track album sees him use MIDI sequences and hardware in ways that capture some of the spontaneity at the core of his live performances.
Speaking about the album in a press release announcing its release, Surgeon said, “This is not a live album, since it has not been recorded in one go during a live performance. In the same way that bands tour songs before going into the studio to record an album, I was able to explore these songs and hone their effectiveness during my live performances before creating a studio version. I can hear Coil, King Tubby, Detroit Techno and The Cure all wrapped up with 30 years of DJing."
To mark the release Surgeon is playing a string of dates in Europe, including the legendary House of God in Birmingham on 10th March — the event he co-founded in 1993. Two weeks later (25th March) Surgeon plays Tresor, Berlin. Other dates confirmed include Blitz in Munich, a show during the final season at London's Printworks, an appearance at Oslo's Jaeger and C12 in Brussels. You can see the full schedule below.
