Chandler (Ariz.) high school three-star safety Kennedy Urlacher, the son of NFL great Brian Urlacher, has locked in a visit to Notre Dame. It’ll be the first real opportunity for head coach Marcus Freeman and safeties coach Chris O'Leary to make a great impression.

The 6-1, 180-pounder from the class of 2024 tells Irish Illustrated and 247Sports that he will be at Notre Dame on Apr. 15. As of today, that is the only visit he has lined up.

He added that he would like to know where he’s headed before the start of his senior season and he’s planning on taking a few visits before that occurs. In my opinion, look for him to see a few schools, lock in a couple of official visits, and then commit by the end of the summer.

Notre Dame isn’t the only high-profiler offer to date. Urlacher also holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Iowa, Miami, Nebraska, Penn State, Washington, Wisconsin and others.

Here is what Irish Illustrated’s Kevin Sinclair had to say about Urlacher following Notre Dame extending the offer.

“ A prospect Notre Dame is quite fond of, Kennedy Urlacher is an instinctual and hard-hitting safety recruit. Playing free safety at Chandler – a great Arizona program – he can cover a lot of ground quickly but given his striking ability and stature at around six-foot-one, 180-pounds, he’s likely to play closer to the box (strong safety) and in the slot at the next level. And yes, he’s Brian Urlacher’s son. So, there’s that, too.”

In a later feature, Sinclair shared more information on what stands out about Urlacher.

“Urlacher is more likely to play a traditional strong safety position where he can play in or around the box often. And this is in the event he doesn’t grow into a rover linebacker. But as a modestly-sized safety who isn’t particularly long, I do believe he’ll stick to the secondary. E ven so, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah , although he was longer, wasn’t much bigger than Urlacher is today. So, we’ll see what happens with his growth potential and position fit. For now, Notre Dame really likes Urlacher, and the feeling is mutual. So, keep an eye on this one.”
